WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FIND A LOCK

(HINT: Don’t try to open it!)

Locks and escape rooms go together like macaroni and cheese, Batman and the night, or 80s music and stretchy pants. It’s incredibly satisfying when you finally open a lock, but you can waste precious escape room minutes on them if you don’t follow a couple of simple tips:

  • Examine a lock when you find one, so you know what you need to open it: a key, letter combo, or alpha combo.

  • Go find that key or combination. ESCAPE! Alaska locks cannot be guessed (unless you like 1 in 10,000 odds), nor will you accidentally happen across their combination - a puzzle must be solved to arrive at what will very obviously be the combination you need.

If a lock required a physical key, it wouldn’t make sense to try to open that lock for 10 or 15 minutes without having the key, and the same reasoning applies to combination locks.

Now. Where’d we land on that mac and cheese?
