FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A: Escape rooms are a fun new type of entertainment that has exploded in popularity in just the last few years. You and your group are briefed on your mission, then you enter the "room." Inside, you must find clues, solve puzzles, and use some really cool tools (props) to find your way out of the room, or beat the overall objective of that particular room. Following the quests and "beating the room" is fun, but there's an added level of immersion in that these rooms are themed (just like in an actual theme park!) to match the storyline. From Egyptian tombs to Secret Labs, ESCAPE! Alaska sets are unrivaled in their design.
A: No. Although the escape rooms at ESCAPE! Alaska are designed to be intense thematically, and the narrative is that you are locked inside, that is merely the storyline you're playing. You may leave the attraction at any time. Your Game Director will instruct you on how to leave, should you find it necessary.
A: Yes. Most groups try to stick to the typical “3 Clues” rule, but if you use all 3 and still get stuck, it’s no fun to just stand around doing nothing while time runs out. If you need and want a few more nudges, we’ll be here for you. The only exception is if your group is playing for leaderboards or a contest, in which case you will be restricted to 3 clues.
A: While there is no overtly adult content (sex, coarse language, etc) in ESCAPE! Alaska attractions, our games are designed for adults and, as such, many of our themes and events within the rooms can be too intense for smaller children. It's also difficult to enjoy the experience if you have to make sure Little Stephen isn't shoving ancient Egyptian sand up his nose. Our attractions are not baby-proofed, so there may be sharp corners at toddler head height, out-of-bounds areas that are extra tempting for smaller people, and other unforeseen dangers. We recommend a minimum age of 12. All minors must be paid for, accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, and a waiver must be signed for all players.
A: Absolutely! We love our military, and each player with a current military ID gets 10% off their admission. You can pay the discounted rate online and simply show your military ID when you check in.
A: ESCAPE! Alaska will be happy to reschedule you for a day and time that does work for you, provided you give us at least 24 hour's notice prior to your scheduled time. We can only reschedule a group once. Due to the constraints of time lost when a scheduled game is missed, we do not offer refunds.
A: Yes. ESCAPE! Alaska managers may allow a few additional guests beyond the max suggested for the room, but only under the following conditions:
1. The number of guests does not exceed fire code.
2 Every player in the room must pay admission.
The max number for each room has been determined to be the most people who can comfortably play the room at one time. Adding players could dampen your enjoyment.
A: We are a family of lifelong Alaskans, all attended school in Anchorage, and we all remember a time with fewer entertainment options. Our goal is to provide Alaskans with a level of local entertainment typically reserved for major cities.
Q: WILL WE BE PLAYING THE GAME WITH STRANGERS?
A: Unless you buy out all available player slots in a game, you could be paired with other adventurers. You all have the same goal and more brain power is often helpful since we all have different strengths when it comes to different puzzle types. The important thing in mixed groups is to be courteous and remember everyone is there for the same reason - to have fun and beat the room!
